Today was Earth Day, and Ms. Olson had some fun activities planned for us! We read a super fancy little book, Fancy Nancy, Every Day is Earth Day. Fancy Nancy taught us all about being green. She "adores" being green! Since many of us are learning how to ride our bikes without our training wheels, we liked her idea, "Less than a mile, bike in style!"
Then Ms. Olson took us outside. We looked at our super clean playground, but then oh yes, she made us litter! YUCK! Who wants to play on a dirty playground.
Nobody wants to play or live in a dirty area, so we showed that we can help and know how to take care of the Earth by cleaning up. How can you help keep our Earth clean?

A Week of Penguin Fun
This week we finished up our penguin unit. We learned all about the different kinds of penguins, worked on a mini-research writing paper, built an edible penguin (and ate it - YUM), waddled like a penguin with an egg on our feet, and finally finished with a science experiment. We became penguins and put our hands in ice cold water.
The kids had a blast. Talk about some real life learning fun!!

Making an Edible Penguin
and..........eating it!!!
Waddling Like a Penguin
Becoming a Penguin!
Our skin was the blubber, the soft glove was our feathers, and the purple rubber glove
became the oil on our feathers.
BURRRRRRRRR!
Serious scientists getting ready for the experiment.
Human Hand vs. The Hand That Became a Penguin!!!
