Our new 8th grade friends from the Jr. High come over to complete the Marshmallow Challenge with us. The task was to build the tallest, freestanding tower your team could make with the marshmallow completely intact on the top. The materials included spaggettie, tape, string and of course..... the marshmallow. Task complete!

Over the past two weeks in kindergarten, we have been learning all about and studying numbers 1-10. We have been matching, sorting, clapping, tracing, writing, building, and counting everything around us to help us learn these numbers. Here are a couple of our activities.
Match Mine with Numbers and Number Boxes
One partner had the number and one partner had the box with dots. First, they had to cut up the pieces and bring them all to me. Oh yes, don't worry..... I mixed them all up. They loved it!! Then they had to order the numbers and put the matching pieces together.
Write the Room
I had pictures hidden all over the room. They had to find a picture and count the dots on the dice. Next, they had to find the corresponding picture on their paper and write the correct number. They were like little investigators. Actually BIG investigators.....look how hard they are working!!

I am SOOOO excited to be starting this year with such an AWESOME group of kiddos! We had a lot of fun singing, dancing, exploring our classroom and supplies, making "Rockin' School Shoes," playing with the ipads, visiting music and PE, and of course recess and lunch. I can't wait to watch them grow throughout the year. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child's life and education.

LOVING our new iPad apps. There are reading, math, phonics, word building, and game apps in the bundle we asked the district to purchase for the Early Childhood iPad cart. Several of the games even let the students build cities based on their progression of levels in the specific skill games.
